Thursday: The Girls' Night Kickoff

7:00 PM — Dinner & Catch-Ups @ Ziba’s Bistro & Wine Bar (Grant Park)

  • The Vibe: Cozy, neighborhood-favorite wine bar with warm lighting and the easiest atmosphere for lingering over good conversation.

  • The Move: Excellent spot to debrief the week over wine and bistro bites.

  • Mental Note: Spotted that they run $20 bottomless wine on Wednesday nights—immediately added to the calendar for a future girls' night out.

Friday: Eastside Strolls, Pizza & College Reunions

1:00 PM — Lunch & Coffee Run @ Comunidad Taqueria & Enid Coffee (Old Fourth Ward / Highland Ave)

  • The Setup: Love that these two share a space—it’s a one-stop shop for phenomenal Mexican street eats and Latina-owned specialty coffee.

  • The Order: A loaded burrito bowl paired with an iced salted brown sugar latte from Enid. Sweet, savory, and gave me the exact fuel needed to wrap up Friday afternoon meetings.

6:30 PM — Early Dinner @ Staplehouse (Old Fourth Ward)

  • The Vibe: High-end culinary pedigree meets ultra-relaxed backyard market vibes. You can walk up in sneakers, grab a patio seat, and eat food crafted with fine-dining precision.

  • The Order: We walked over from our apartment, shared a few of their incredible sourdough-crust pizzas, and sipped house cocktails. It’s genuinely one of the coolest spots in the city to take visitors when you want world-class food without any stuffy pretension.

9:30 PM — Reunion Drinks @ Atkins Park (Virginia-Highland)

  • The Vibe: Atlanta’s oldest continuously licensed tavern. Unpretentious, loud, and full of nostalgic energy.

  • The Highlight: Met up with our college crew to kick off the football weekend properly over cold beers and great catch-ups.

Saturday: Auburn Game Day & The Great Blackout

8:30 AM — Dog Walk & Pre-Gaming

  • Started the day with a long walk so Murphy could burn off energy and play with his dog friends before the chaos began. Came back, poured fresh mimosas, and set up our game day spread.

10:30 AM — Fuel Up: PopUp Bagels (Virginia-Highland)

  • The Order: Picked up fresh, steaming batches of bagels and specifically hunted down their limited-edition Papa Johns Special Garlic Sauce Butter and pepperoncini schmear. Pure heaven for a pre-game tailgate crowd.

12:00 PM — Tailgate & Game Time @ Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Downtown)

  • Rideshared over early to meet up with a huge group of friends for a long, high-energy tailgate. Food, drinks, and prime pre-game excitement.

  • The 3:30 PM Kickoff: Auburn took the field at 3:30. Even though the outcome was a tough watch on the scoreboard, being surrounded by our best college friends in that stadium atmosphere was so much fun.

7:30 PM — Post-Game Beat-the-Surge Sip @ Wild Leap Atlanta (Downtown)

  • The Pro-Tip: Never try to call an Uber right outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium immediately after a major game. Walk a couple of blocks to Wild Leap in South Downtown for a craft beer or slushie cocktail to let surge pricing cool off.

9:00 PM — The Unexpected Blackout Pizza Party

  • We pulled up to our apartment only to find the entire neighborhood pitch black—a total power outage with all surrounding restaurants dark.

  • Instead of stressing, we lit whatever candles we could find, dealt out card games at the table, and managed to order in delivery pizza. It went from a slightly spooky situation to one of the most memorable nights of the weekend. Best part: the power flickered back on around 10:30 PM, so the AC kicked in just in time for bed.

Sunday: The Slow Morning & Recovery

10:30 AM — Breakfast Walk @ Muchacho (Reynoldstown)

  • We set out aiming for Home Grown down on Memorial Drive, but as usual on a holiday weekend, the line was out the door. (I still have never managed to try it—one day!).

  • The Pivot: Walked over to Muchacho instead, which never disappoints. Ordered cold brews and their killer smoked salmon toast. The retro-California patio seating was the exact low-key morning we needed.

Afternoon — Couch Coma & Movie Night

  • Hugged our out-of-town guests goodbye and spent the rest of the day in total recovery mode on the couch. Put on American Animals—a wild, stylish heist movie that kept us thoroughly hooked.

Monday: Labor Day Reset

Morning — The Sweat Session @ The Yard Gym

  • If you host a lot, you know the feeling: when people are in town, eating healthy and staying in your routine goes completely out the window. Hitting a tough, high-intensity workout at The Yard Gym was painful in the moment, but so necessary to reset my brain and body after three straight days of tailgates, pizza, and drinks.

Afternoon & Evening — Grocery Run & Apartment Cookout

  • Stocked back up on fresh groceries for the work week, then wrapped up Labor Day with a casual patio cookout with our neighbors while the dogs played in the courtyard. The absolute sweetest, calmest send-off to a chaotic weekend.

Weekend Takeaways & Map Log

  • Best Single Bite: The fresh PopUp Bagels ripped and dipped into that Papa Johns garlic butter—elite game day food.

  • Neighborhood Walkability: 9/10. Being able to walk to Staplehouse, local coffee spots, and Muchacho saved us from holiday traffic.

  • Next Time: Put our name on the Home Grown waitlist, continue the walk, and come back.
